Call for Submissions for Applications Night
Application Night at VisWeek 2015 is an opportunity for practitioners to share their work in an informal presentation setting. This combination poster session and presentation night will be a unique opportunity for discussion, feedback, invention and brainstorming about your work.
We invite the submission of papers and/or posters from practitioners who apply visualization and analysis to real-world applications in journalism, industry, national laboratories, government, NGOs, and any other application area. This Application Night will feature the work of those with experience designing, building, deploying and evaluating innovative information visualization, scientific visualization, and visual analytic systems.
Each submission will be considered for a short presentation during Applications Night. We will accommodate as many presentations as time permits.
Submissions should present case studies of success, failure, experimentation, design, development, methodology, best practice lessons and other topics relevant to a commercial, government or operational context. Discussion could include one or more of what were the business or service objectives, who were the users, what were their needs, what were the design objectives, what technology was developed, what was the result, how did it perform, what were the lessons learned and what are the next steps? If confidentiality is a factor, no need to name specific clients, customers or programs, you can use indicators such as 'a large investment bank' or 'a top 10 pharmaceutical company' or 'health services'.
PUBLICATION
Accepted papers will be posted online, and the highest quality papers will be invited to re-submit for publication. Accepted posters will have their abstracts published in the proceedings. The most important publication criteria are originality, quality of presentation and relevance. Submissions must be in English.
