Travel Information

Arriving at the Airport

Paris has 2 airports, Charles-de-Gaule (CDG) on the north of Paris for most international flights, and Orly in the south for domestic and some international too. In 2013, the CDG airport handled 62 million passengers and 500,000 aircraft movements, making it the world's eighth busiest airport and Europe's second busiest airport (after London Heathrow) in passengers served.

The airport has direct flights to most larger cities worldwide.

Arriving by Train

Paris is also easily reachable by train from nearby European countries such as UK, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxemboug, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. All the train stations in Paris are connected to the metro lines, allowing to access the conference hotel directly or with one metro line change.

Getting to the Hotel

The Marriott Rive-Gauche Hotel and Conference Center is located in the south of Paris, 25km south of CDG and 15km north of Orly. Valet parking is 25€ daily at the hotel and nearby offsite parking lots are roughly 2.00€ hourly. In general, we recommend using the public transportation system, taxi, or shuttle service to reach the hotel.

Public Transportations

The Marriott Rive-Gauche Hotel is close to the train line connecting CDG and Orly Airport called RER B, next to the station Denfert Rochereau. It is close to the metro lines 4, station "Denfert Rochereau", and 6, stations "Denfert Rochereau" or "Saint Jacques".

The hotel is then a short 2-block walk (5mn walk slighltly downhill) from the RER B station and 1-block away from the "Saint Jacques" station.

CDG has 4 terminals and Orly has 2; they are either directly connected to the RER B, or through a short metro, free for CDG and costing about 7€ for Orly.

Information about public transportations is available at the site ratp.info

Taxi service

Taxi service from CDG to the Marriott Rive-Gauche takes takes about 45 minutes (depending on traffic) and is approximately 40€. Attendees should be aware that at rush hour the ride may take significantly longer due to traffic congestion on the main highways connecting downtown to the airport.

Shuttle service

Our hotel does not provide shuttle service to the airport but there's a cheap Shuttle from Orly (Orlybus) that arrives at Denfert Rochereau too. CDG provides shuttles to several locations inside Paris, each connected through the metro network to the hotel. Unless there's problem with the RER B (it happens more frequently that we'd like), the shuttles are not as convenient as the train.

Rental Car Service

All the major rental car companies have offices in Paris airports.

Driving directions

Paris is surrounded by a highway called "Boulevard Périphérique", each exit has the name of a gate (porte). The hotel is next to "Porte d'Orleans", in the south of Paris. From there, head north on "Avenue du Général Leclerc" up to "Place Denfert Rochereau" (there's a statue of a big Lion at the center of the roundabout). Turn right on "Boulevard Auguste Blanqui" and the Marriott is two blocks on the right.
