SCIVIS Special Session: Four Views on Visualization in Science and Education

This venue provides an opportunity for the visualization community to hear from and interact with practicing scientists and educators who have used visualization in their work and who are looking for visualization help with future projects. Each of them will give examples of how visualization has been helpful to them in the past and a description of the kind of data sets and questions they deal with in their field.

Steffen Bass, Physicist from Duke, who will talk about visualization needs in high-energy particle collision simulations.

Kerry Bloom, Biologist from UNC, who will talk about visualization needs in the study of the yeast mitotic spindle.

David Feng, Computer Scientist for the Allen Brain Institute, who will talk about visualization needs in multivariate 3D gene-expression data.

Gail Jones, Science Educator from NCSU, who will talk about visualization needs in science education.
