Abstract

Self-tracking data, often embodied in photos, is a pervasive yet underrecognized form of data that captures our experiences and emotions. "Mosaic Memory Drive" explores the materiality of digital images, questioning whether the essence of analog photography, described by Roland Barthes as its "punctum", persists in the digital age. By reconstructing images through an endless loop of pixel permutations, this work blurs the line between the original and its reinterpretations, challenging the notion of a post-photographic world. The piece functions as both a puzzle of self-tracked memories and a process of encryption and decryption, emphasizing the plasticity and ephemeral nature of digital media. Through this, it invites reflection on our evolving relationship with memory, presence, and the passage of time in the context of digital data.
