A challenge in many areas of academic research is to translate that research into something that has real utility, as well as contributing to the general body of human knowledge. This Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF) Meeting will share ideas and discuss strategies that can be used to help translate visualization research presented at conferences such as Visweek into applications that provide genuine benefit to end-users. Prospective attendees may be interested in (or have) established spin-off companies, licensed their software to 3rd parties, created open source projects, or developed ad-hoc applications for a specific user community.
